Types of membership

Choose the one that describes how you hold rights in music.

Creator member: composers, lyricists, songwriters and arrangers

Creator Membership is available to composers, lyricists, songwriters, arrangers, and other authors of musical works who own or control copyright in their creations. Creator Members authorize ACPOSL to administer their performing rights, including licensing the public performance and communication of their musical works, collecting royalties on their behalf, and distributing royalties in accordance with ACPOSL's Distribution Rules.

Creator Members are entitled to register their works with ACPOSL, participate in royalty distributions, receive information regarding the use of their repertoire, and contribute to the development of the organization in accordance with its Constitution and Membership Regulations.

Publisher member: music publishing companies and publishers

Publisher Membership is available to music publishing companies and music publishers that own, acquire, administer, or control copyright interests in musical works through publishing agreements or other legal arrangements.

Publisher Members authorize ACPOSL to administer the performing rights of the works under their control, collect royalties arising from the public use of those works, and distribute the publisher's share of royalties in accordance with ACPOSL's Distribution Rules.

Publisher Members play a vital role in the development, promotion, administration, and commercialization of musical works and may represent both domestic and international catalogues through publishing or administration agreements.

Associate member: others with a professional interest in music

Associate Membership is designed for individuals and organizations with a professional interest in the music industry who do not currently qualify for Creator, Publisher, or Legal Heir Membership.

This category may include music educators, music industry professionals, producers, managers, researchers, students, legal professionals, and other stakeholders who support the objectives of ACPOSL and the advancement of copyright awareness in Sri Lanka.

Associate Members may participate in educational programs, workshops, industry events, and other activities organized by ACPOSL. However, Associate Membership does not grant the right to receive royalty distributions or administer copyright interests through ACPOSL unless the member subsequently qualifies for another membership category.

Rules and forms

The membership rules set out who is eligible, members' rights and responsibilities, and how to join and stay a member. They are based on ACPOSL's Articles of Association.
