Trade Minister Meeting

A high-level discussion was held on August 11th 2025 at the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development with its Minister, Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe to align Sri Lanka’s Intellectual Property (IP) Act with international conventions.

The session focused on the urgent need to update and enforce IP laws within the local music industry. A key outcome was the decision to appoint an expert committee, tasked with delivering formal recommendations within three months.

The meeting featured a prominent delegation from the ACPOSL, including:

Representatives from the National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO) of Sri Lanka also participated in this discussion.
