ACPOSL and NIPO National Copyright Awareness Program 2026

The Association of Creators and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL), in collaboration with the National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO), successfully concluded the National Copyright Awareness Programme, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders from across the music and creative industries. The programme was attended by event organisers, music users, venue representatives, industry professionals, creators, publishers, legal practitioners, and other key stakeholders, all of whom engaged in meaningful discussions on the importance of copyright compliance and the protection of creators' rights in Sri Lanka. The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the upcoming ACPOSL licensing tariff, the legal framework governing public performance rights, and the royalty collection and distribution system. An open question-and-answer session enabled attendees to raise concerns, seek clarification, and discuss practical issues relating to copyright licensing and royalty payments. ACPOSL extends its sincere appreciation to the National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO), all guest speakers, participants, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of this important national awareness initiative. Through continued cooperation and education, ACPOSL remains committed to building a fair, transparent, and sustainable copyright ecosystem that protects the rights of creators while supporting the lawful use of music throughout Sri Lanka.
