Tokyo Program on WIPO Mentoring Project for Managers of Copyright Management Organizations 2026

WIPO Mentoring Project for Managers of Copyright Management Organizations – Tokyo, Japan In February 2026, the Association of Creators and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL), together with representatives from the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka (NIPO), participated in the WIPO Mentoring Project for Managers of Copyright Management Organizations held in Tokyo, Japan. Organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) with the support of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the Japan Institute for Promoting Invention and Innovation (JIPII), the programme brought together copyright management organisations and intellectual property officials from several countries to strengthen collective management systems through international collaboration and knowledge sharing. During the programme, ACPOSL presented its progress in strengthening copyright administration in Sri Lanka, shared its strategic roadmap for the development of collective management, and engaged in intensive discussions on governance, licensing, royalty distribution, digital rights management, international reciprocal agreements, and modern rights management systems. The mentoring programme provided valuable guidance and practical expertise that will support ACPOSL's continued efforts to build a transparent, efficient, and internationally recognised collective management organisation for the benefit of Sri Lankan composers, lyricists, authors, and music publishers.
