ACPOSL Training Visit to IPRS – India

Learning from global leaders empowers us to build a world-class copyright management system for Sri Lankan creators
As part of ACPOSL's ongoing commitment to strengthening copyright administration and collective management in Sri Lanka, Chief Executive Officer Ranga Dasanayake and Director Amith Liyanage undertook a professional training visit to the Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) in India. During the visit, the ACPOSL delegation met with Mr. Rakesh Nigam, Chief Executive Officer of IPRS, and Mr. Surhit Bhattacharya, Chief Operating Officer, together with their management and technical teams. The programme provided comprehensive training on the operational framework of a modern Collective Management Organisation (CMO), including membership administration, repertoire management, licensing strategies, royalty collection and distribution, governance, international reciprocal agreements, and the implementation of modern rights management systems. The visit also enabled valuable discussions on strengthening cooperation between ACPOSL and IPRS, with IPRS reaffirming its willingness to support ACPOSL's institutional development and future international initiatives. The knowledge and practical experience gained through this programme have played a significant role in enhancing ACPOSL's operational capabilities and supporting its vision of developing a transparent, efficient, and internationally recognised collective management organisation for the benefit of Sri Lankan creators and publishers.
